We kicked it with the likes of Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow and Charlotte Edwards last week as New Balance launched Englands new ODI and T20 shirts ahead of this summers' fixtures. Not you average Thursday evening.
After the kits were revealed by a selection of Men's, Women's & Disability England players, with an open mic Q&A from the audience, where they picked the players' brains on the kit and recent events - including one guy getting Root's thoughts were on Joe Hart being left out of the England Football World Cup squad (Joe sat well and truly on the fence with his answer, as any good England captain would).
Once the formalities were over, a mass game of cricket ensued with youngsters from the local community going toe to toe with England's elite, which resulted in balls flying left right and centre, with one hitting a poor lad right in the jugular. Luckily he was fine, and after Root signed his cricket bat all was forgotten.
Great idea from New Balance and a smart move incorporating the next generation of English talent in the launch party through their #MakeYourMark campaign. Especially after the ECB Chairman Colin Graves claimed the younger generation "are just not attracted to cricket anymore".
Let's hope the guys and girls wearing the Three Lions this summer do the shirts justice. Especially the T20 number, love a loud kit.
